Local & Seasonal

Ford’s Nest Farm is owned & operated by the Ford & Wright families. We are a small 1/2 acre flower farm located in Chesterfield, NJ dedicated to sustainable agriculture. We are committed to sharing the beauty of fresh local flowers with our community, while thoughtfully stewarding the land we farm.

Our seasonal flowers will be available in 2024 at our weekly farmstand.

Kelsey Ford

Owner. Farmer. Wife. Mom. Daughter.

Hi everyone! I am the owner & farmer at Ford’s Nest. Here’s a little bit about me.

I grew up in the central Jersey suburbs, always always always outside. I shelled peas in my grandma’s garden, picked raspberries off my mom’s bushes, danced barefoot through the woods, and ate fresh zucchini pancakes by the plateful.

I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up & I was always trying on different “hats,” as my parents called it. I thought about going to art school, becoming a research scientist, being a mom. But I can tell you farmer was never on the list.

I studied environmental science & biology in college. Thinking of pursuing a higher degree in sustainable agriculture, I took an internship on an organic vegetable farm. I’ve since worked on several NJ farms, raised chickens for meat, made cheese on a dairy farm, and weeded A LOT of carrots.

My second season farming, I saw a truckful of first of the season fresh flowers coming in from the field at sunset. It was breathtaking. I dove headfirst into learning all I could about growing flowers, eventually managing the cut flower production on that farm for 4 years.

While I was pregnant with my son August, I was inspired to dive into my dreams when my family & I purchased the farm that is now Ford’s Nest. We live in a 200+ year old farmhouse & we have a cat named Pickle. I wear a lot of hats these days, Mom, weatherman, personal chef, farmer florist. And I absolutely love every one of them.

Christopher Ford

Chris is my husband, the ultimate driving force of inspiration behind Ford’s Nest. He is a constant stream of support & new ideas & optimism. He fixes everything that breaks around here and will build anything we ask him to.

It is his dream to someday practice his skills on our 8-acre property so that we can provide forest products to our community.

Lynn & Mike Wright

Lynn & Mike are my parents, the twin pillars that hold up Ford’s Nest. They have willingly and wholeheartedly jumped into this farm with us, and we absolutely could not do this without them. They are the ultimate grandparents, shoulders to cry on, and hands to pick you up when you need a boost.

They help manage our historic home, the 1-acre property that surrounds our home, and the gigantic garden that I convinced them we needed.
